A Journey of Decades.
I was six years old when I entered the world of business and became an entrepreneur. At the time, my lovely mother worked as an international traveling nurse while she grew her multiple companies in fashion, beauty and technology. On the one hand, she imported leather goods from Italy and fine jewelry from France. On the other hand, she owned a beauty salon.
My mother was arguably the first woman in Lagos, Nigeria, to import IBM typewriters for local businesses. Talk about a multi-faceted businesswoman on her profit assignment! I became her sales assistant and secretary, signing for deliveries and supporting her with everything in between.
It's been a few decades since that early childhood experience, and my list of many ventures follows her example. However, it has been challenging. From carrying a dream to getting started, dealing with insecurities, loneliness, frustration, lack of funds, fear, and self-doubt—the list could go on. What do you do? Where do you go? Who do you ask for support? How do you navigate the market, the complexities and the competition?
