How To Master Your Success

The signs are all around you.

How To Master Your Success

Success leaves clues, but they must be acted upon.

Tony Robbins

A few days ago, my sister reached out to me for guidance on a challenge she was facing. Like me, she is an entrepreneur dealing with the many difficulties of the ongoing global supply chain disruption. She had come across an opportunity for an event that promoted exclusive access to business resources she felt might help take her business to the next level and achieve more success.

While the event promised a lot of value, she hesitated because she wasn't sure if this was another "social media hype," considering her attendance required an investment of over $20,000. After sharing her dilemma with me, I paused to share what I believe is indispensable for success mastery. Let's unpack the details together.

First, I acknowledged how valuable the opportunity sounds and felt that she might benefit greatly. However, I asked her also to consider answering the following question sincerely:

"What usually works for you?"

I asked her to pause and consider her journey of success. I asked her to recall the steps she took to achieve success at different times throughout her life. I inquired, "Do you usually achieve success when you follow the next big thing, or do you gain success when taking small steps?"

Suddenly, the lightbulb went off in her head. She replied, "I usually gain success when I carefully do my (own) research and find my way." She went on to say, "Often, when I follow the crowd and pursue the next big thing without carrying out my diligent research, I usually get burned and suffer regrets." Answering this simple question helped her gain the clarity she needed. She felt empowered and knew what to do next.

Like my sister, I, too, often face the challenges of accepting or declining "the shiny object" offer. I am guessing that my sister and I are not alone. I imagine you face it too? Following the crowd or the hype usually does not work for me. In other words, I don't do well with trends. I do well with diligent (and usually) hard work. I do well with detailed preparation and meticulous planning. Often, I have to choose humility and confront the fear of missing out. Frankly, it's not easy, but the cost of failure or doing otherwise keeps me in check.

For instance, as I previously mentioned, I chose to cultivate a meaningful relationship with you (my clients) rather than applying the latest marketing trends and strategies. This means I may not experience the rapid growth of other companies now, but I will have built an influential and sustainable brand in the long haul. This result is priceless.

Naturally, we struggle with making choices for our success. We often think success is elusive and complicated. The reality is that success is uncomplicated and usually leaves crumbs. Today, allow me to provide you with a simple and abbreviated definition of success. This definition is one I invite you to hold on to for the rest of your life.

Success is doing more of what works and less of what doesn't.

If you and I desire to experience more success, all we need to do is:

Pay careful attention to past patterns.

Sincerely identify what worked (and did not work) in the past.

Practice consistency in applying what works (or carefully seeking what will).

We inevitably miss out and rob ourselves of steady success when we decline to identify and follow what works. Today, I invite you to take a moment and answer, "What usually works for me?" Answering this simple question will help you gain clarity, live authentically, and get back on track for the success you desire.

It's time to master your success. What will you do more of?

Until next week...

Warmly,

V.J., Founder
