How To Be Consistent
Success is the sum of small efforts - repeated day in and day out ~ Robert Collier ~
Have you ever wondered how some get more done in 24 hours than others? How do they manage to stay on top of several items so well? How are they able to move with such precision and consistently deliver results?
In the previous issue of Elegant Secrets, we defined success as doing more of what works and less of what doesn't. Today, I thought we should take our conversation further and consider how we can be more consistent with success. Let's begin.
Successful people prioritize Personal Organization. In other words, if you desire to be consistent and grow in success, it's crucial to prioritize your Personal Organization.
Personal Organization is how you manage your time, energy, and resources to create value and grow in success.
This means, your commitment to Personal Organization is directly related to your success. The more you invest in your Personal Organization, the more you'll grow in success. It's also important to note. Personal Organization fuels Elegance. The more you grow in Personal Organization, the more you'll grow in Elegance. Let's put it into a math equation. 😄
Time + Energy + Resources = Value & Success
OR the reverse:
Time - Energy - Resources = Lack of Value & Lack of Success
If I use my time, energy, and resources efficiently, I will create value and grow in success. If I struggle to use my time, energy, and resources efficiently, I will struggle to add value and grow in success. For clarity, resources refer to other life assets such as money, talents, knowledge, people, or relationships.
So, where does one begin?
In practical terms, we can grow in Personal Organization by answering and taking action on the following three key questions daily.
How can I allocate my time today?
How can I maximize my energy today?
How can I invest (in or with) my resources today?
For instance, at the start of this year, I desired to grow in adding value to you, my clients. I had pondered what I could do to stand out from other brands and how I could consistently deliver value to you. Here are the steps I took:
Time - I allocated a specific block of time on my schedule to write Elegant Secrets each week. I made my team and family aware of this allotted time. I do not take meetings or phone calls or do anything else during this allocated time. This means saying "NO" to several other tasks during this timeframe and choosing not to overcommit. I often ask myself, "Does my schedule reflect my destination?"
Energy - I ensure I get adequate sleep the night before writing Elegant Secrets. I also observe some quiet time in prayer and reflection. I am careful to ignore any adverse situation that may steal from the wholeness of value I seek to deliver. This includes staying away from social media or other energy drainers.
Resources - I consider what the vast needs of my clients may be, and I make it a priority even in the choice of topic. I refrain from prioritizing (my own) agenda. I make it about you.
This (apparently) simple practice has helped me consistently deliver value and empowered me to grow in success in this area. I'll be honest, the idea of writing an article each week seemed daunting. However, prioritizing my Personal Organization by answering these three key questions has helped me realize success more than I dreamed.
If you struggle with consistency and success in an area, you might be overcommitting or under-committing. Both instances point to an unhealthy allocation of time, energy, and resources and a need to reevaluate your Personal Organization.
Amongst a few other reasons, I founded NOTIQ because I observed that people miss out on success, not because they are not gifted or talented, but because they struggle with Personal Organization. It breaks my heart to see people with potential overlooked or eliminated for lack of healthy Personal Organization.
My deep desire is to solve this problem because I have been overlooked for success before. I have missed out on success because of my inconsistencies, and I know the pain of rejection. Growing in Personal Organization helped me win when the odds were stacked against me. Learning how to manage my time, energy, and resources have helped me become a better steward of the life GOD has given me.
I believe you and I can become more. I believe we can continue to grow in Personal Organization so we may be more consistent and inspire others to do the same. I think it's time to say NO more and YES to our purpose.
In the end, we only have only one shot at life here on earth. Shouldn't we be consistent and maximize it?
Warmly,
VJ
